Moses And Aaron Speak To The People

Exodus 4: Moses Objects to God’s Call

Moses Gets Right With God, His Brother, His People

In today’s lesson, we see Moses object to being Israel’s deliverer. Moses argues that he does not speak well, so God assigns Aaron as Moses’ spokesman. Moses then leaves Midian and returns to Egypt with his family.

This chapter tells us of the return of Moses to Egypt and the marvelous way in which God deals with his misgivings. Moses has many questions in his mind and many hurdles to surmount but God has an answer for every objection of Moses.

Have you ever spent time reading the Bible, maybe even praying, but remain reluctant to follow God? Are you afraid to move in the direction God’s Word and the paths that His Spirit might lead you? In the short term, it certainly is easier to follow the crowd, or at best serve God halfheartedly. But as God wrote to the church at Laodicea (Revelation 3:14-16) He would rather they were cold or hot. But He was sickened by their lukewarm faith.

As we see in today’s lesson, God’s wrath is not only directed at sinners, but also at those who try to follow Him while remaining in their sin. Today, won’t you decide not only to follow Him, but to follow Him completely in every area of your life. If you do, He will one day bring you safely to His promised land of joy and perfection.

And Moses and Aaron went and gathered together all the elders of the children of Israel: And Aaron spake all the words which the LORD had spoken unto Moses, and did the signs in the sight of the people. And the people believed: and when they heard that the LORD had visited the children of Israel, and that he had looked upon their affliction, then they bowed their heads and worshiped. Exodus 4:29-31

Write to the angel of the church in Laodicea: “The Amen, the faithful and true Witness, the Originator of God’s creation says: 15 I know your works, that you are neither cold nor hot. I wish that you were cold or hot. So, because you are lukewarm, and neither hot nor cold, I am going to vomit you out of My mouth. Revelation 3:14-16
