God’s Provision – Isrealites Gathering Mannah in the Wilderness

God has done His part to adopt us as His children and to develop a loving, eternal relationship with Him. Your earthly father may have let you down, hurt you, even abandoned you. But don’t let that so embitter you that you reject your Heavenly Father’s love and compassion. Here is what He provides in order to reach out to you and enable you to communicate with Him in prayer:

  • A Promoting BOOK for Prayer (Bible)
  • A Pleading SPIRIT for Prayer (Holy Spirit)
  • A Powerful NAME for Prayer (Jesus)
  • A Protective SHIELD for Prayer (Faith)

5a The Bible – A Promoting BOOK for Prayer:

Moreover, as for me, far be it from me that I should sin against the Lord in ceasing to pray for you; but I will teach you the good and the right way.

How can a young man keep his way pure? By keeping it according to Your word. With all my heart I have sought You; Do not let me wander from Your commandments. Your word I have treasured in my heart, That I may not sin against You.

It happened that while Jesus was praying in a certain place, after He had finished, one of His disciples said to Him, “Lord, teach us to pray just as John also taught his disciples.” And He said to them, “When you pray, say: ‘Father, hallowed be Your name. Your kingdom come. ‘Give us each day our daily bread. ‘And forgive us our sins, For we ourselves also forgive everyone who is indebted to us. And lead us not into temptation.'”

5b The Holy Spirit – A Pleading SPIRIT for Prayer:

In the same way the Spirit also helps our weakness; for we do not know how to pray as we should, but the Spirit Himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words; and He who searches the hearts knows what the mind of the Spirit is, because He intercedes for the saints according to the will of God. And we know that God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose.

5c The Name of Jesus – A Powerful NAME for Prayer:

Truly, truly, I say to you, he who believes in Me, the works that I do, he will do also; and greater works than these he will do; because I go to the Father. Whatever you ask in My name, that will I do, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If you ask Me anything in My name, I will do it. If you love Me, you will keep My commandments.

5d Faith – A Protective SHIELD for Prayer:

…in addition to all, taking up the shield of faith with which you will be able to extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Ephesians 6:16

Therefore we also pray always for you that our God would count you worthy of this calling, and fulfill all the good pleasure of His goodness and the work of faith with power, that the name of our Lord Jesus Christ may be glorified in you, and you in Him, according to the grace of our God and the Lord Jesus Christ. 2 Thessalonians 1:11-12
