Prayer is Simple

1Prayer is Simple and Straight-forward

The LORD is far from the wicked, But He hears the prayer of the righteous. Proverbs 15:29

Talking to a family member or best friend is simple. We meet face to face and we talk about things. Or we make a phone call or send a text message – LOL (Laughing Out Loud because I’m no good at text messaging, but our children prefer it to a phone call). We e-mail or IM (Instant Message). We leave a post-it note or write a letter. Simple. Little, if any, planning or preparation is required when we talk with family and friends. We may laugh, we may cry, we may speak someone’s praise or criticize their flaws. But talking comes pretty naturally with those we love.

Talking with God is even easier. We can talk to Him at anytime, from anyplace, about anything. We don’t need to reach God by phone, or wait for His response to our e-mail. He is everywhere present, so He is always there – a true “always on” connection free of bandwidth constraints and, best of all, no monthly fee! Not only that, but He “hears” our thoughts and “sees” the true nature and motives of our hearts. In fact, He understands our needs and desires even better than we do. And best of all, even though family and friends may distance themselves from us, God seeks us out. That is, if we will confess and turn away from our sin.

Sin will separate us from God. But, as stated in the verses below, God sent His Son, Jesus, to this earth to live with us, die for our sin, and give us the promise of eternal life.

For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life. “For God did not send the Son into the world to judge the world, but that the world might be saved through Him. John 3:16-17

This is eternal life: that they may know You, the only true God, and the One You have sent—Jesus Christ. John 17:3

If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 1 John 1:9
